As Bloomberg reports , Google allegedly programmed Android phones to transmit data to its servers when users were not connected to a WiFi network, thus using the mobile operator's data that customers paid for.
According to the lawsuit, the company used this information to advance its own corporate interests, including creating more targeted digital advertising and expanding its mapping capabilities.
A California court in San Jose deemed Google's actions illegal and announced a verdict to fine the company $314 million. Google categorically rejects these accusations, saying that this data is necessary for security functions, and the amount of traffic used to send this data does not exceed the size of a single photo.
Previously, a Russian court fined Google 2 undecillion rubles (a figure with 36 zeros) for the company's failure to comply with the requirements to restore the accounts of 17 Russian propaganda YouTube channels, including Zvezda, Channel One, Rossiya 1, Moskva Media, etc., as well as Margarita Simonyan's YouTube channel.
