Google has officially unveiled its new wearable device, the Fitbit Air. It’s an ultra-lightweight, display-less gadget that focuses on passive health data collection and deep integration with artificial intelligence. The device weighs just 5.2 grams and is positioned as a direct competitor to the popular Whoop tracker.
As Engadget reports, the new product is already available for pre-order at a price of $100. According to Google Health CEO Rishi Chandra, the developers managed to make the gadget 25% smaller than the Fitbit Luxe model and half as compact as the Inspire 3.
The main feature of the Fitbit Air is the absence of any buttons or interface on the case itself. It is a passive sensor that monitors heart rate, heart rate variability and sleep quality 24/7. Thanks to new machine learning models, the accuracy of measurements has increased by 15% compared to previous generations of Fitbit devices.
«Currently, we only offer bracelets, but we are exploring the possibility of expanding our range of accessories,» noted Rishi Chandra, hinting at the appearance of chest straps or clothing mounts in the future.
The centerpiece of the ecosystem is Google Health Coach, powered by Gemini. It is a personal AI assistant that analyzes user data in real time and creates dynamic training plans. Users can interact with a chatbot in the Google Health app, receiving advice on how to recover or adapt their schedule to daily workloads.
Technical specifications and capabilities:
Automatic recognition of over 40 sports (from running to rowing).
Atrial fibrillation monitoring.
Autonomy up to 7 days.
Fast charging: 5 minutes of connection provides a day of work.
Water resistance up to 50 meters.
A special version for $130, developed in collaboration with basketball player Steph Curry, is also presented separately. It has improved air circulation under the strap and an additional water-repellent coating. The Fitbit Air is scheduled to start sales on May 26, 2026.
Ukrainians have created an AI fitness messenger called ChAthlete, which motivates people to exercise. How is it structured? A competitor to BetterMe, Zing Ai, and Fitify, which plans to cover the sex-fitness niche and conquer users from 50 countries
Як нейромережі бачать вільну та незалежну Україну? Тест dev.ua
Hey, this was a really interesting read! I'm always looking for ways to improve my skills, so the part about really focusing in on the details definitely caught my eye. It actually reminds me a bit of what I do sometimes with english dictation to catch those tricky bits. Thanks for sharing!
