GTA VI gameplay leak continues for a week. The hacker behind it is promoting crypto scams and ignoring Take-Two lawsuits
For the seventh day in a row, new Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay videos have been appearing online. An unknown hacker (or group of hackers) under the nickname CyberLeek has already published 10 clips from the game’s pre-release build, advertising his own cryptocurrency token. At the same time, he is ignoring massive lawsuits from Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
This is reported by a number of Western publications, in particular IGN, citing court documents and official statements from representatives of technology companies.
The latest released videos showcase gameplay as one of the main characters, Jason, stealing cars, robbing gas stations, and excerpts from story cutscenes. Each video is watermarked with an advertisement for the CyberLeek memecoin and a manifesto against a fully digital future.
«They want to take away your right to resell. The peaceful path has led us nowhere. It’s time to fight — now or never,» the statement says. Despite the loud statements of the miner, gaming industry analysts consider this action to be an ordinary crypto scam.
Take-Two lawyers have already sent a series of DMCA subpoenas to X (Twitter), Microsoft, Discord, and GitHub. The company is demanding the identification of users involved in the distribution of stolen content. Xbox CTO Scott Van Vleet confirmed cooperation with the publisher: «We work closely with Take-Two and Rockstar Games to support efforts to protect creative works and intellectual property.» Discord also stated its readiness to comply with court orders.
According to Bloomberg, Rockstar Games itself still doesn’t know exactly how the leak happened or who was behind it. There is growing concern within the studio about the threat of key plot spoilers being published.
Despite the massive leak, Rockstar and Netflix are not canceling the official Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay reveal scheduled for Thursday, August 27. The first six hours of the video will be exclusively available on the streaming service, after which it will appear on YouTube.
The official release of GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles is scheduled for November 19, 2026.
