Gadgets are once again among the top 3 purchases that Ukrainians will make on Black Friday: how shopping priorities have changed since last year

The results of a Rakuten Viber survey showed that 64% of Ukrainians do not believe in Black Friday discounts, so they never make purchases on this day. This percentage remained unchanged compared to last year, but the priorities among those planning to shop have changed somewhat. For example, “food and alcohol” has moved from second to eighth place.

The results of a Rakuten Viber survey showed that 64% of Ukrainians do not believe in Black Friday discounts, so they never make purchases on this day. This percentage remained unchanged compared to last year, but the priorities among those planning to shop have changed somewhat. For example, “food and alcohol” has moved from second to eighth place.

About the survey

The official Rakuten Viber Ukraine channel conducted a survey on Black Friday shopping plans. About 18,000 Ukrainians took part in it: the key age group was 34-45 years old.

The answers to the question "Do you plan to buy more or less than last year?" were distributed as follows:

  • I never buy on this day, I don't believe in such discounts — 64% (in 2024, this answer was also chosen by 64%);
  • I don't plan to buy anything this year — 19% (in 2024 — 19%);
  • Approximately in the same volume - 8% (in 2024 - 7%);
  • I will buy less than last year — 6% (in 2024 — 6%);
  • I will buy more than last year — 3% (in 2024 — 4%).

"Clothing and footwear", like last year, led the top 3 of planned purchases on "Black Friday" — 39% (2024 — 34%).

Home appliances have moved from second place to Food and Alcohol, with 12% of respondents planning to purchase these products. In 2024, this category was in fourth place with 9%.

The top three are rounded out by "Gadgets", as last year: 10% (2024 — 12%).

The following four categories remained unchanged in the priorities of Ukrainians:

  • Children's goods — 8% (2024 — 9%);
  • Cosmetics, personal care, vitamins — 8% (2024 — 9%);
  • Pet products — 8% (2024 — 6%);
  • Home and repair goods — 6% (2024 — 5%).

In eighth place is "Food and Alcohol" - 5% (2024 - 13%). This category has lost its priority the most compared to 2024, when it was in second place.

This is followed by "Automotive Products" — 2% (2024 — 2%) and "Subscriptions to services and passes" — 2% (2024 — 1%).
