The Russian Federation has modernized the Gerber UAV, which was initially used mainly as a cheap decoy for Ukrainian air defense. Now its enlarged version can cover a range of up to 1,200 km and, according to the declared characteristics, carry up to 25 kg of explosives. First, the Russians have enlarged the drone. Now its wingspan is 3 m, and the length of the fuselage is 2.6 m. Inside, they have installed a 63-liter fuel tank, which is divided into separate sections so that the fuel does not upset the drone's balance during maneuvers.
Also in the examined sample, the GUR found a 10-kilogram high-explosive fragmentation incendiary warhead and additional bags with an incendiary mixture.
And on board was installed a dual IP camera, which is designed to detect interceptor drones. The drone also received an updated flight controller, a 12-channel satellite navigation system "Comet" and communication equipment. A unit called "Sausage" is responsible for video processing, created on the basis of the Chinese microcomputer Coke Pi.
The GUR emphasizes that the increased flight range allows the Russians to use such drones far beyond the borders of Ukraine.
