Ukrainian company Hideez has introduced a mobile application for passwordless multi-factor authentication. The solution has already been implemented in Ukrainian government institutions and is available to small businesses free of charge.
According to the company’s press release, the new mobile authenticator Hideez was created as part of the USAID Project «Cybersecurity of Critical Infrastructure of Ukraine.» Its main goal is to reduce the risks of phishing attacks and prevent unauthorized access to government and corporate systems.
Unlike traditional solutions that use one-time codes, the Hideez app implements passwordless authentication based on public and private key cryptography (Passkey). This allows you to completely avoid the use of passwords and increase the protection of systems against credential theft.
A little more about Hideez
It is a member of the global FIDO Alliance, and its solutions have expert opinions from the State Service for Special Communications. The company specializes in passwordless identification systems and is focused on businesses with high requirements for cyber protection. The USAID project «Cybersecurity of Critical Infrastructure of Ukraine» supports the development of such solutions as part of the national strategy for strengthening cybersecurity.
The application is already used by the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration. It is also integrated into the Hideez Workforce Identity system and allows authentication not only in web services and applications, but also to unlock workstations. The keys are stored locally, and access is possible even without an Internet connection — which is critically important in conditions of power outages or communication.
For small businesses with up to 20 employees, the authenticator is offered free of charge and support is provided for pilot implementation. In the future, the company plans to scale the solution to the international market.
