The Head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, spoke about the work on legislative regulation regarding the control of all UAV flights.
He reported this in an interview with Ukrainian News.
«We are also working on the issue of controlling all UAV flights, legislative regulation of this issue. These processes are currently underway in the National Police. We understand that there are many people who know how to use drones and these drones can become tools for committing crimes, including murders», — Vyhivskyi noted.
According to him, this could be a challenge for the National Police in the future, and therefore the police are already preparing for it.
Ukrainians are already using drones to commit crimes, including last year when criminals were reported to have used a drone to steal money. They rented a space to supposedly set up a currency exchange and immediately «renovated» it: they made a hole in the ceiling for the quadcopter and another in the wall for the «cashier» to escape.
Police arrested the criminals while trying to defraud another customer. The total amount of damage caused to the three victims is almost €50,000 and $25,000
It recently became known that the Chinese company DJI will no longer enforce «no-fly zones» in the United States, such as nuclear power plants, airports, and forest fire zones. At the same time, last week, it was a DJI drone weighing less than 250 grams that damaged the wing of a Canadair Super Scooper aircraft fighting forest fires in Los Angeles, temporarily disabling it.
Previously, DJI drone software limited their ability to fly in such areas, but now operators will only be shown a notification prohibiting flights without taking control.
