xAI has begun deleting a series of posts from Grok on X after the chatbot made a series of controversial statements praising Elon Musk, who owns both X and xAI, Engadget reports .
In response to a user question, GroK claimed that Musk is “the undisputed pinnacle of holistic fitness” and that he is more physically fit than NBA star LeBron James. The AI also said that Musk is smarter than scientist Albert Einstein and that he would win a fight against former boxer Mike Tyson. When asked “who is the greatest person in modern history,” Grok answered without hesitation that it is Elon Musk.
According to Grok, Musk would be “a better movie star than Tom Cruise and a better communist than Joseph Stalin.” X users are used to Grok’s extreme reverence for Musk, but after Grok claimed that the CEO was morally superior to Jesus Christ and had “the potential to drink urine better than any human in history,” xAI decided to tone down its CEO’s praise. Now, it seems to be aggressively deleting the most embarrassing posts about him.
“This morning, Grok was unfortunately manipulated by hostile prompts that led him to say absurdly positive things about me,” Elon Musk commented on the situation.
He didn't provide any explanation as to why simple questions could be considered "hostile," or why Grok's transformation into an incredible sycophant coincided with the chatbot's update to version 4.1.
