This was announced by game journalist Andy Robinson during an episode of the VGC podcast. According to him, there is discussion within the industry about a possible change to the developer’s traditional release schedule.
«I really think they’re going to push the PC version. There’s been a lot of talk about it. It might come out sooner than expected. With everything that’s going on right now, we might be in for a surprise,» Robinson said.
VGC analysts suggest that the main reason for this decision may be the shortage of PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro consoles during the planned November release. If part of the audience is unable to purchase the devices, Rockstar Games risks losing a significant number of players at launch. An accelerated release of the PC version will allow to meet this demand.
Rockstar Games has not yet officially commented on the release date of GTA VI on Windows. Previously, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick explained why the company is not releasing the PC version at the same time as the console versions.
«Rockstar always starts with consoles because you’re judged by how you serve your core audience. If your core audience isn’t served first and best, you can’t get others interested,» Zelnick noted.
Rockstar games are usually released with significant delays on PC. For example, Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on Windows about a year after its console debut, while GTA V had to wait a year and a half. Currently, Grand Theft Auto VI is officially confirmed for release only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
