On May 14, 2025, the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and Postal Services (NCEC) granted permits to Huawei Ukraine LLC (Huawei) and Nokia Solutions and Networks Ukraine LLC (Nokia) to conduct tests of 5G NR technology.
On May 14, 2025, the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and Postal Services (NCEC) granted permits to Huawei Ukraine LLC (Huawei) and Nokia Solutions and Networks Ukraine LLC (Nokia) to conduct tests of 5G NR technology.
Both companies will conduct testing from May 14 to July 31, 2025 on the network of PJSC "VF Ukraine" (Vodafone), but in different cities, reports NKEK.
Huawei Ukraine LLC will conduct tests of the International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) radio technology with the basic 5G standard in two cities: Kropyvnytskyi and Ivano-Frankivsk.

IMT-2020", with the basic 5G Non Stand Alone standard, is planned to determine the prospects for using the radio frequency spectrum in a more spectrally efficient NR technology compared to the existing one (LTE TDD) and to gain practical experience in the transition from 4G (LTE) technology to 5G Non Stand Alone technology. During such tests, it is planned to use test base stations of international mobile (mobile) communication IMT (LTE, 5G NR) of the Huawei brand, model DBS5900, with a remote radio frequency unit model RRU5818
outside the premises,” says the justification for the draft decision of the National Commission for the Protection of the Environment.
Nokia Solutions and Networks Ukraine LLC will conduct testing of 5G NR technology in Vinnyky, Lviv region. The integration of radio equipment will be carried out in commercial PS Core Huawei equipment.
“The purpose of the demonstration is to show maximum performance in field conditions and evaluate the electromagnetic compatibility of 5G NR technology, which will allow the operator to evaluate the efficiency improvements
"the use of the frequency spectrum and the costs of implementing this system," the commission document states.
Each company is required to provide an official report on the test results within one month of their completion.
Vodafone and Nokia already conducted similar testing in Vinnyky last year. Lifecell also conducted 5G testing in Lviv.
The first test launch of the 5G network in Ukraine took place almost a year ago. It was a 5G telelink between Ukraine and Finland.
