Due to the acute phase of the energy crisis caused by Russian shelling, the TEB and NS Commission has renewed the emergency regime in the Ukrainian energy sector. Over 15,000 energy workers are currently involved in repairs and restoration.

This was announced by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a speech at the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the government is simplifying the procedure for connecting mini-power plants (gas turbine, gas piston plants, and modular boiler houses) in order to quickly increase distributed generation.

"We have over 250 cogeneration plants put into operation. About 200 more plants are at various stages of project implementation. We have 187 installed units for block-modular boiler houses," said Denys Shmyhal, commenting on the general situation of distributed generation.

Denys Shmyhal separately appealed to businesses with a persistent request to turn off all outdoor advertising, facade lighting, and large screens, as he called it unethical at the moment.

"If you have excess energy, instead of bright advertising, give it to people," the head of the Ministry of Energy emphasized.

A separate headquarters has been created in Kyiv and the region to deal with the consequences of the strikes, which is working around the clock. The Deputy Prime Minister instructed to hold a meeting of the Kyiv Defense Council to urgently make decisions to save the city.

Among the key changes is an adjustment to curfew rules. People should be able to reach “Points of Invincibility” without hindrance at any time of the day if their homes lose heat.

Currently, an inventory and additional equipment for heating and communications is being taken at the base points.

In addition, additional cogeneration units are already being sent to the capital. The possibility of attracting repair crews from other regions to help connect generators to high-rise buildings is being considered.

As the Minister of Energy reported, the government is currently working with international partners to attract additional support: powerful generators, electricity storage, power cells, transformers, repair tools, equipment, and much more.

Electricity imports from the EU are increasing, with the maximum capacity for imports currently at 2.3 GW.
