Company X is preparing X Money as a built-in financial service for storing funds and transferring funds within the platform. Elon Musk said that the product is already being tested internally by the company, and a public beta version may be opened in the near future.
According to Yahoo Finance, Musk talked about X Money during the xAI All Hands presentation in February 2026. According to him, the service is working in a closed beta test among X employees. Within a month or two, the company plans to launch limited external beta access for a subset of users, and then deploy X Money to the entire audience worldwide. Musk calls X Money a center through which users' financial transactions within the X ecosystem should take place.
The article also notes that X has obtained money transfer operator licenses in more than 40 US states. This is necessary for legal work with transfers and wallets. Separately, a partnership with Visa is mentioned, which is supposed to provide infrastructure for payments and transfers.
After Musk’s statements, the market again talked about the possible support of cryptocurrencies in X Money. However, the company did not confirm this. Investors most often associate expectations with Dogecoin due to Musk’s previous statements about micropayments. There is also speculation about XRP due to its role as a banking partner, which previously integrated Ripple’s solution for fast international transfers.
Musk has long promoted the idea of a universal application that combines communication, shopping, and finance in one place. The closest example of this model is often found in China’s WeChat, which combines messenger and payment functions in one service.
