Last year, 444,860 cars were imported to Ukraine. This is 17% more than in 2024, but still a third less than in 2021. Over 70% of imports last year were used cars with an average age of 9 years.

This is reported by Opendatabot, based on data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Last year, the imported car market underwent significant changes: against the backdrop of the expected tax refund, demand for electric vehicles increased sharply.
Every fourth car imported from abroad was electric. As a result, electric cars (109,309 units) for the first time overtook diesel models (94,014), although gasoline cars with an indicator of 195,059 units still confidently hold the lead.
For comparison, in 2024, 56,610 electric cars were imported to Ukraine, in 2023 - 37,953, and in 2022 - only 12,322.
In 2025, Volkswagen became the most requested car brand, while the Tesla Model Y became the most popular imported car of the year.
Tesla became the No. 1 brand in 22 regions of the country, second only to Volkswagen in the Zakarpattia region and to the Chinese BYD in the Sumy region.
Recall that from January 1, 2026, customs clearance of electric cars in Ukraine became more expensive due to the return of 20% VAT. Therefore, in December 2025, there was a real boom in the import of "electric cars" - almost 26,000 were imported.
