At launch, the database contains 2,127 verified AI use cases, covers 1,266 media organizations from 130 countries, and tracks technology adoption from 2012 to 2026.
According to Horchynska, she initially collected information while preparing a piece on AI strategies for the international news publishers association WAN-IFRA. Over time, the research turned into a separate open project.
«I started collecting this data when I was writing a text about the AI implementation strategy for WAN-IFRA, and later it grew into a detailed public layout of what newsrooms and media companies are actually doing with AI: in editorial processes, products, working with the audience, personalization, distribution, analytics, verification, archives, monetization and management,» she explained in a comment to «Media Detector.»
Jindex.ai allows you to explore how media companies use artificial intelligence, which tools are used most often, which practices have already become an everyday part of editorial work, and which remain experimental.
The index can also be useful for newsrooms that are just starting to implement AI, as it contains examples of solutions that do not require large technical or financial resources.
