«Previously, there was no procedure that would allow the Ministry of Defense to purchase innovations for testing in the troops. Innovations entered the troops unsystematically,» Fedorov noted .
The project gives the Ministry of Defense the right to quickly purchase innovative products under a simplified procedure. Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to quickly receive innovative weapons for combat testing and draw conclusions about their effectiveness. Samples that successfully pass the tests will be quickly submitted for supply.
According to Fedorov, this project, along with previous changes to the new approach to defense procurement of UAVs, aims to provide the troops with only proven equipment. The project covers innovative products, technologies, software, and solutions that can enhance the capabilities of the troops now.
Earlier, the Minister of Defense announced that the need for drones will be formed automatically based on objective data from the battlefield. The state will finance only those UAVs that actually work and hit targets. The corresponding order has already been signed by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.
Last week, the Ministry of Defense launched the «WEAPONS.Investments» web portal — it will help weapons manufacturers more quickly attract funding for scaling and development.
