For the second time in a row, Ukraine ranked first in terms of fixed internet stability in the global Digital Quality of Life Index 2024 ranking. This was written on Facebook by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.
The Digital Quality of Life Index researchers explain that they determined the stability of a fixed internet connection by comparing monthly changes in download speeds. They compared the percentage change in download speeds each month to the previous month. If the cumulative change over the 12 months was positive or zero, the researchers considered countries to have a stable internet connection and assigned them a value of 1.
In addition to Ukraine, Singapore, Ireland, Australia, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and Jordan received a value of 1.
«During the war, Ukraine relied on xPON technology — it works for up to 72 hours without electricity and provides communication even during blackouts.
As of the beginning of 2025, xPON coverage is 48,5%. By the end of the year, our goal is to achieve 65% coverage among users,» Fedorov emphasizes.
As for the stability of the mobile Internet (Mobile Stability Index), Ukraine is only in 78th place in this ranking.
