Ross Gerber told Sky’s Business Live that the billionaire and adviser to US President Donald Trump has lost focus and is now too «divisive».
He referred to Musk’s post-election role as head of the Trump administration’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which sparked public outrage and protests over planned sharp cuts to federal government staff.

He added that the business was «absolutely» in crisis, and the appointment was one of several reasons he has sold a significant amount of stock in recent months. Tesla’s market value has fallen by more than $800 billion since December, and it fell another 4% on Tuesday.
Gerber said that while Tesla’s products are «undoubtedly the best in the world,» Musk only has 24 hours in a day, and he has been too infrequent in allocating his time since buying Twitter, now called X, in 2022.
He added that Musk’s social media posts and work with the US president since then have brought too much negative publicity for Tesla.
«The company’s reputation has just been destroyed by Elon Musk. Sales are plummeting, so yes, it’s a crisis. You literally can’t sell the best product on the market because the CEO is divisive», — Gerber said.
Another Tesla investor, Christopher Tsai of Tsai Capital, believes the company can survive even if Musk is no longer at the helm.
