Forbes Ukraine reports on the new funding. The round was led by investment company Broadband Capital Investments. It is noted that this is the largest investment in a Ukrainian miltech startup since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion.
Swarmer did not disclose its valuation, but experts believe it could be $35-$45 million.
Last September, Swarmer also closed a $2.7 million investment round. It was joined by US funds Radius Capital, Green Flag Ventures and D3. The round was led by US defense technology company RG.AI. All of them became participants in Swarmer’s new funding.
«Swarmer technologies have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield. Investments of a historic scale will allow the company to provide swarm capabilities to every UAV — it will be possible to deploy an unlimited number of drones and robots, regardless of the number of trained pilots,» First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov commented on the investment.
In early September, the WSJ reported that Ukraine had become the first country to routinely use drone swarm technology on the battlefield, a concept previously considered a theoretical one. The report cited data from the Ukrainian military and software developer Swarmer, which said drone swarm attacks have been underway for about a year.
This was made possible by artificial intelligence-based software that allows drones to coordinate their actions after launch. According to the Ukrainian officer, the technology has already been used more than a hundred times to lay mines, as well as to destroy enemy manpower, equipment and infrastructure.
