According to the latest leaks from insiders, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max may get the largest battery in iPhone history.
According to Forbes, the information came from the Instant Digital account on Weibo, a source with a mixed reputation in the field of leaks about Apple.
According to this leak, the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s battery could have a capacity of around 5,000 mAh, up from 4,676 mAh in the current iPhone 16 Pro Max.
This aligns with previous rumors that the new model will be thicker — 8.725 mm versus 8.25 mm for its predecessor — and the extra space will likely allow for a larger battery.
9to5Mac notes that an increase in capacity of almost 10% does not necessarily mean an equivalent increase in battery life, as other factors also affect this.
MacRumors recalled that the battery life of the iPhone is steadily increasing: the iPhone 16 Pro Max works up to 33 hours, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max — up to 29 hours. If the predictions come true, the iPhone 17 Pro Max can last up to 35 hours without recharging or even more.
However, William Gallagher of Apple Insider urges caution: autonomy depends not only on the battery, but also on the overall design of the device. For example, new cooling technologies, such as a vapor chamber, may not have a direct impact on power consumption, but other features can.
Despite the advancements in features, longer battery life remains one of the top requests from users. And it looks like the iPhone 17 Pro Max may finally give them what they’ve been waiting for.
