Over the past year, almost 40,000 IT individual entrepreneurships have been closed in Ukraine, while over 26,000 new ones have been opened. Under which IT-codes are activities terminated most often?

According to the Unified State Register of Entrepreneurs, as of February 24, 2025, there were 262,093 active IT-entrepreneurs in Ukraine. Their number decreased by 5% or 13,186 entrepreneurs over the year, among whom 12,684 were men and 502 were women.

Over the past year, almost 40,000 IT individual entrepreneurships have been closed in Ukraine, while over 26,000 new ones have been opened. Under which IT-codes are activities terminated most often?

According to the Unified State Register of Entrepreneurs, as of February 24, 2025, there were 262,093 active IT-entrepreneurs in Ukraine. Their number decreased by 5% or 13,186 entrepreneurs over the year, among whom 12,684 were men and 502 were women.

The drop was due to a record number of closed individual entrepreneurs: minus 39,892 in 2024. The year before last, this figure was 13,752. 16% of closed individual entrepreneurs are women and 14% are men, according to DOU.

The most closed were:

in Luhansk region -18%;
Kherson -17%;
Donetsk -16%;
Zaporizhia -13%;
Mykolaiv -10%.

In absolute numbers, the largest negative dynamics are in the Kharkiv region (-3,001 active individual entrepreneurs per year) and in Kyiv (-2,794 individual entrepreneurs).

At the same time, IT-FPOs are also actively opening. 26,706 FPOs were registered during the year (the previous year there were 17,332). 48% of new FPOs were opened by women.

Number of active IT-FOPs by KVED:

«62.01 Computer Programming» — 173,617 IT workers or 66,2% of the total. A decrease of 6% over the year;
«62.02 Consulting on information technology» — 36,659 or 14%. A decrease of 3% over the year;
«63.11 Data processing, posting of information on websites and related activities» — 35,243 or 13,4%. A decrease of 2% over the year;
«62.09 Other information technology and computer systems activities " — 8,642 or 3,3%. An increase of 1% over the year;
«58.29 Publishing of other software» — 3,580 or 1,4%. A decrease of 7% over the year;
«63.12 — web portals» — 1,728 or 0,7%. An increase of 3% over the year;
«62.03 Computer equipment management activities» — 1,599 or 0,6%. An increase of 1% over the year;
«58.21. Publishing of computer games» — 1,025 or 0,4%. A decrease of 7% over the year.

The share of women among IT-entrepreneurs increased over the year in all KVEDs, except for the code «58.21 Publishing of computer games».

The most popular KVED among women in IT, as well as among men, is «62.01 Computer Programming» — 56% of active IT sole proprietorships opened by women are registered under it.

In second place is «63.11 Data processing, posting of information on websites and related activities» (21% of sole proprietorships opened by women).

In third place is «62.02 Consulting on informatization issues» (17%).
