Sports website Tribuna creates international IT product — company launches mobile app Football Xtra for $1.5 million and plans its own media launch builder
Co-founder of the famous sports website Tribuna, Maksym Berezinsky, spoke about the launch of the Football Xtra mobile application, his intentions to create a «global product with Ukrainian roots,» and plans to launch a media designer for football clubs.
Co-founder of the famous sports website Tribuna, Maksym Berezinsky, spoke about the launch of the Football Xtra mobile application, his intentions to create a «global product with Ukrainian roots,» and plans to launch a media designer for football clubs.
He reported this in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.
Tribuna launched Football Xtra at the end of June 2025. According to Berezinsky, the application user can quickly find out everything about a football player, his background and transfers, but he noted that «many» other services have this.
«We went further: we added salaries and transfer value of players. So far, this works in the top leagues, but we plan to expand. We show the connection between the money the club spends, salaries and the player’s real performance. This is rarely found in a complex. There are platforms with statistics on the market, there is separate transfer data, separate salaries,» says Maksym Berezinsky.
According to him, content without distribution is «worthless,» so Tribuna is developing a website, apps, social networks, and YouTube at the same time.
«We want to create a media launch builder for any football club or league. Some people will prefer the Barcelona app, while others will prefer all the football news in Football Xtra. It’s not the platform that’s important, but cultivating a loyal audience,» said the Tribuna co-founder.
Maksym Berezinsky noted that the main markets for the global IT product Tribuna are the USA, Britain, Germany, Italy, France, and Spain, because «the paid model works best there and clubs with the largest fan bases.» He added that the project’s audience in Ukraine is over 3 million unique users on the website and in the application, and a total of 10 million worldwide.
Berezinsky said that the launch of Football Xtra cost $1.5 million of his own funds. The Tribuna team has over 200 employees, 25% of whom are IT professionals. The rest of the employees create content, including editors, SMM, and video production specialists.
Tribuna’s revenue in 2024 was €2.5 million, including UAH 15.5 million in Ukraine. Football Xtra has a paid subscription of $5 per month or $40 per year in major markets. For Ukraine, the cost is UAH 59 per month and UAH 499 per year.
«We want to be a company that makes a cool global product with Ukrainian roots. To show that it is possible — for journalists, for developers, and for the market as a whole,» said Maksym Berezinsky.
