The man tried to flee from Ukraine to Moldova. He was detained 50 meters from the state border line together with his accomplices.
The programmer did not appear at the court hearing, but left a statement with the court admitting guilt and the trial of the materials without his participation, as well as his explanation that he was admitting guilt because «he intended to cross the Ukrainian SSR in order to save his life from the Russian invaders.»
To do this, he found unknown people who, in exchange for a small sum of money, were supposed to help him cross the border. The details and cost of such services are not reported in the case materials .
The court found the programmer guilty of violating the law on the border crossing and sentenced him to a fine of 8,500 UAH.
Such an IT worker must pay 605.6 UAH of court fees to the budget.
The resolution may be appealed to the Odessa Court of Appeal through the Bolgrad District Court of the Odessa Region within ten days from the date of receipt of its copy.
