“I’ve never felt so much like Tony Stark.” The developer “codified” a feature for the Meta Quest 3 VR headset that allows you to “throw” a 3D model into a printer to print it
The developer has put together a system that combines the Meta Quest 3 with a 3D printer, which looks almost like the interface from Iron Man. Now he can take a virtual 3D model with his hands and “throw” it towards the printer. After that, the printer starts preparing it for printing.

He shared this in X. Tom's Hardware tells about it.
I've never felt more like Tony Stark than I do now. Using my Meta Quest, I can just throw 3D models at my 3D printers to have them start printing it😂 pic.twitter.com/xNTe4KAVM2
"I've never felt so much like Tony Stark," Hank joked.
For the experiment, he used a Meta Quest 3 headset and a Bambu Lab P2S 3D printer with an AMS 2 system for working with several materials. According to him, the Bambu Lab printers have a local API through which they can be controlled. So Hank set up a small web server on his PC, which became an intermediary between the devices. So the command from the Meta Quest comes to the computer, and it already transfers it to the 3D printer via the API.
The engineer built the integration itself using OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra, meaning he "hand-coded" a significant portion of the work. However, there is no finished project on GitHub yet. Hank says he might publish the code if there is enough interest in the experiment. However, he wants to clean it up a bit before that.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that researchers have created a system of several AI agents that monitors the 3D printing process in real time and can adjust the printer parameters if it notices a problem.
