KAI and Progresstech Ukraine opened a joint aircraft service engineering center
The first specialized space in the field of aviation service engineering has been opened at the National University «Kyiv Aviation Institute» (KAI). The Center for Aircraft Design and Strength will train specialists in the design, calculations, and operation of aviation equipment directly at the university.
The first specialized space in the field of aviation service engineering has been opened at the National University «Kyiv Aviation Institute» (KAI). The Center for Aircraft Design and Strength will train specialists in the design, calculations, and operation of aviation equipment directly at the university.
The project partner was Progresstech-Ukraine, one of the domestic engineering brands and the largest provider of engineering services for the international aerospace market, including Boeing Corporation, in Eastern and Central Europe. To create a modern educational space, the old corridors in one of the wings of Building 11 of the KAI were completely reconstructed.
The new Center combines theoretical and practical training. Its structure is divided into a computer modeling room with specialized software of the CAD, CAM and CAE classes, as well as training workshops. The latter are equipped with riveting tools, a fuselage panel for practicing aircraft repair technologies, a hydropulsation machine for static and cyclic testing, FDM 3D printers and machine tools.
In addition to classical academic classes and specialized programs involving practicing engineers, the space will function as an open platform for students' extracurricular projects. The Center plans to launch additional training for young specialists outside the university, conduct research, and develop a dual form of education, in which students gain practical experience directly at the enterprise.
The creation of the Center was a continuation of the strategic partnership between the higher education institution and the company «Progrestech-Ukraine», which has been going on for over ten years. During this time, hundreds of students have completed the dual education and internship community, and over 200 graduates of the aviation university have started their careers in the company. In addition to arranging the space, the engineering company’s specialists will participate in updating the university’s curricula and specialized disciplines.
We will remind you that at the KAI base, in cooperation with the Ukrainian UAV manufacturer, the Athlon Avia Research and Production Enterprise, they launched the AVIA Lab aviation modeling laboratory for students and schoolchildren.
