The Ministry of Education and Science has selected 12 universities to create Campuses of Excellence — specialized research centers with new laboratories, equipment, and IT infrastructure. In total, universities submitted 27 applications for the CampeX competition, 24 of which passed the formal selection process. 12 projects were selected for the final round.
The highest score was received by the National University "Kyiv Aviation Institute" with the campus of unmanned and autonomous technologies - 821.71. The second place was taken by the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with the center of advanced materials - 815.63 points, and the third place was taken by the Kyiv Institute with the center of space technologies with a result of 803.52 points.
Winners will be able to purchase modern laboratory and educational equipment, upgrade research facilities, deploy IT and network infrastructure, purchase specialized software, conduct energy modernization, and undergo international certification.
The total budget of the program was previously estimated at approximately 60 million euros. Funding is provided by the World Bank within the framework of a joint project with the Ministry of Education and Science for the development of higher education.
In addition to KAI, KNU, and KPI, the list of winners includes Lutsk NTU with a project in the field of critical infrastructure, Lviv Polytechnic with a digital health focus, and Dnipro Polytechnic with a project on the restoration and sustainability of energy infrastructure.
Campuses will also be created at Karazin Kharkiv University - in the field of advanced materials and biotechnology, NUBiP - for climate-oriented agricultural systems, Sumy State University - for biomedical research and regenerative medicine, Uzhhorod National University - in the field of neuromedicine and genetics, Chernivtsi National University - for climate regeneration and sustainable development of urban ecosystems, as well as at Ivan Franko Lviv University - for ecological revitalization and resource management.
