A Ukrainian IT enthusiast has created an online archive of protest photos. More than 1,500 photos have already been added to the site.
Designer Artem Sakh created «Kartonky» — an online gallery where anyone can upload a photo of a homemade protest poster from street protests in Ukraine and abroad, or simply view other people’s.
Designer Artem Sakh created «Kartonky» — an online gallery where anyone can upload a photo of a homemade protest poster from street protests in Ukraine and abroad, or simply view other people’s.
He talked about the project on his Instagram.
Within 24 hours of its launch, the gallery had collected about 1,000 photos. As of this writing, there are already 1,593 of them — 992 of them were uploaded in the last 24 hours alone.
The posts have collected over 8,000 likes. The geography of the added cards is 54 cities, mostly Ukrainian. The largest number of cards are from Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Ivano-Frankivsk. There are also photos from abroad — Düsseldorf, Warsaw, Berlin, Munich, Paris, Toronto, and other cities where Ukrainians took part in solidarity actions.
The posters in the gallery mostly relate to the current public dissatisfaction with recent personnel decisions in government — a topic that has been actively discussed in Ukrainian media in recent days.
Artem Sakh reported that in one night of work, he added a map of Ukraine to the project with the distribution of cardboard boxes by city, moderation (request to blur faces in photos before publishing), the ability to upload up to 30 photos at a time, a drop-down list with city selection, and a number of smaller interface improvements.
On a separate statistics page, you can see the dynamics of downloads over the last 14 days, the distribution of cards by city on an interactive map, as well as the number of submitted and approved complaints about content — moderation removed 8 photos after user requests.
By uploading a photo, the user assumes responsibility for its content. You can complain about any photo, and after reviewing the complaint, it may be removed from the gallery. The author published instructions for use in a separate Reels on Instagram.
Привіт всім.
