Head of the State Special Communications Service, Oleksandr Potiy, estimated how many additional specialists in the cybersecurity sector will be needed to implement the measures provided for in the new legislation.

«At least 1,000 people — that’s for sure, they will be the core. And in general, the deficit at various levels is tens of thousands of specialists. According to the law, we have critical infrastructure facilities for which there is a national threat to cyber defense, and according to the law, there must be cyber defense officers there,» he noted in a video interview on the eQtv channel.

According to him, there are thousands of such critical infrastructure facilities.

«If there is at least one official at each facility, that would be thousands of specialists. And all of these facilities have information systems that process some sensitive information,» Potiy added.

The head of the State Special Communications Agency stated that, in essence, the labor market in this industry does not currently exist, but the potential for growth does exist, and this is, first of all, very good for the private sector.

Potiy also reported that about 500 people, thanks to our international partners from Germany, are to undergo training in specialized courses, and 150 people have already begun their training.

Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law «On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Information Protection and Cybersecurity of State Information Resources and Critical Information Infrastructure Facilities» in April. It was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading on March 27.
