The developers of the Air Alert application have partially restored its operation after an unauthorized intervention on the evening of November 1, due to which users received fake push notifications about street fighting and radiation threats in Russian.
This was announced by the application development team in their official statement.
The service’s specialists reported that unauthorized persons had interfered with the application’s operation. To localize the problem, the developers promptly disabled push notifications and temporarily suspended the system’s operation.
The team emphasized that the event does not threaten the security of users, as the service does not collect or store private information.
"The application does not store personal data, so there is no threat to users. Please do not click on links from suspicious notifications," the developers emphasized.
They later added that the app has resumed sending push notifications about alerts. In addition, information about danger levels is again available on the map: yellow corresponds to a drone threat, and red — to a massive drone or missile attack.
At the same time, the display of specific targets on the map has been temporarily suspended until all necessary work is completed.
The Air Alert application was developed by Stfalcon in collaboration with Ajax Systems and with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine in the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion. The service notifies about air, chemical, man-made and other types of danger in certain regions of Ukraine. dev.ua contacted Ajax Systems for comment on the situation.
