Police found that attackers attacked the companies' accounting systems using malicious software.
Having received covert remote access to the accounting department's computers, the suspects transferred funds to previously prepared controlled accounts of individual entrepreneurs under the pretext of payment for services provided, and then withdrew funds from them.
The organizer of the criminal scheme and his accomplice have now been identified. The latter was responsible for forming a network of droppers. Some of them, in exchange for a monetary reward, registered as individual entrepreneurs and transferred their bank accounts to the criminals.
The scheme also involved individuals who registered accounts on crypto exchanges and rented them out to members of the group.
In this way, the attackers stole almost 4 million hryvnias from the accounts of Ukrainian enterprises.
Both suspects have been charged. They face up to 12 years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
