Dnipro police detained a 30-year-old Kyiv resident who was creating phishing sites under the guise of banking services with fees for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The press service of the Cyber Police noted that the cyber fraudster developed custom software that allowed him to gain access to the accounts of users of various web resources. He sold his malicious software through social networks, in particular, for hacking the accounts of one of the perfume products sites.
The attacker also created a phishing website that visually copied the bank’s official payment service, and its pages contained information about the alleged collection of funds in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Users were asked to enter bank card details and personal information, which could then be used to gain access to their accounts.
The fraudster received payment from customers in cryptocurrency. He also actively used hacker forums, where he offered to create malicious programs.
The man was charged under Part 1, Part 2 of Article 361-1 (creation and sale of malicious software) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to five years in prison.
