According to Futurism, citing Brazilian media, the plane crash occurred on Sunday afternoon in the coastal city of Coruripe on the Atlantic Ocean. The deceased pilot was identified as 46-year-old Timothy James Clark, an Australian businessman from Melbourne.
Police reportedly found cocaine on the plane, neatly stacked in briquettes and wrapped in plastic with a blue-and-white SpaceX logo. Recent estimates suggest that the drug costs about $1,500 per kilogram in Latin America, so the plane could have been carrying a quarter of a million dollars worth of illicit cargo.
The investigation is ongoing, and it is currently unknown where the pilot was headed or why the drugs were labeled with the SpaceX logo, but this is not the first time a brand associated with Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, has been applied to some illegal drugs.
