Passion UA had a strong start to the selection, and won against the Russian teams, which were considered favorites, Virtus.pro and Spirit. But defeats by the BIG and HEROIC teams almost put an end to the ambitions of the Ukrainians. However, Passion UA rallied and defeated Danish Astralis, reports HLTV. Thus, it became the first team with a full Ukrainian composition at a CS major.

«We did it! You guys did it! I would like to thank and congratulate every player, coach Mykhailo „Kane“, all employees of the organization for making our dream come true, because we are all Passion UA. I would also like to thank our fans who were worried and cheered. To thank those who believed and those who didn’t even believe, because dreams are needed in order for them to come true. We all know who to root for in the majors. Glory to Ukraine and Glory to the Heroes!», — commented the team founder Oleksandr Zinchenko on the result.
According to the Ukrainian commentator Oleksandr Petryk, this is a «crazy success», because it is the first entry into a tournament of this level for Passion UA. He added that the all-Ukrainian team will also be the youngest at Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 with an average age of 19.8 years.
👊PUA’s moment of qualification for the #ShanghaiMajor2024! A crazy debut and victory, the result of hard work and practice. GGs to the young Ukrainians🇺🇦 and see you on stage!
