Dai will focus on improving the artificial intelligence features of Meta's consumer devices and will report directly to CTO Andrew Bosworth, TechCrunch reports .
At Apple, Dye will be replaced by Steve LeMay, who has played a key role in the development of every major Apple interface since 1999.
Dai will lead a newly formed creative studio at Reality Labs, where he will be joined by fellow former Apple designer Billy Sorrentino, Joshua To, the Meta industrial design team led by Pete Bristol, and the Metaverse design and art teams led by Jason Rubin.
Zuckerberg said the studio will "merge design, fashion and technology."
“Our idea is to consider intelligence as a new design material and imagine what would be possible when it is ubiquitous, highly functional, and human-centered,” Meta’s CEO wrote in Threads. “We plan to elevate the role of design at Meta by bringing together a talented group of people who combine craftsmanship, creative vision, systems thinking, and deep experience in building iconic products that merge hardware and software.”
