The company that developed the electronic diary updated the application and introduced a subscription for using it. Parents are outraged, Hetmantsev promises to figure it out

The developer company TATL Technology released an update to the application, after which it began working on a subscription basis.

«Dear parents! „One School“ has always been there for you and your children: during Covid, when education changed every day; during a full-scale war, when it was necessary to maintain learning and communication, despite the danger; in times when every family was looking for stability for their children. All this time, the system remained completely free for parents. In order to continue to ensure stability, data security, and the development of modern functions, we are introducing symbolic support.»

The subscription cost is 48.99 UAH per month (the first seven days are free).

The application will be free for children, the company announced. The browser version of the Unified School is also free.

This innovation has outraged parents of schoolchildren. Users note that authorization via browser has stopped working, and school employees, like parents, do not understand why the service has become paid. Particular dissatisfaction was caused by the fact that the changes were introduced without warning.

In response to the complaints, the developers stated that «all terms of use of the system for schools, teachers, and children remain unchanged,» but did not provide any clear explanation regarding the fee the app requires.

The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s tax committee, Danylo Hetmantsev, advised parents to wait with their subscription.

«The fee is not stipulated by law. But if you calculate it per year, it comes to a good amount — 2.2 billion UAH. On Monday, I will ask about the author and inspirer of this amazing monetization of a public service. But for now, it looks like a large private operator, who was previously «hooked» by schools, decided to make money. I do not advise parents to rush to pay. Something suggests that he will lose his «business,» he wrote in Telegram.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov also recalled that the state has launched its own educational information system «Mriya», which is free for both schools and parents.

«Mriya is free for schools and parents. Any school can join the best digital product,» he wrote on Telegram.
