At the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine in Rome, Kyivstar CEO Oleksandr Komarov said that the company's infrastructure is constantly subjected to cyberattacks from Russia.

"We see regular attempts, various types of attacks aimed at destroying infrastructure," Kyivstar CEO Oleksandr Komarov said on Friday in an interview at the Rome Conference, Bloomberg writes .

The hacking attempts are aimed at operational activities and do not pose a major threat to customers' personal data, he said.

In December 2023, Kyivstar suffered a powerful cyberattack , for which the Russian hacker group Solntsepok claimed responsibility. More than 24 million subscribers were left without communication for several days and damaged the work of many Ukrainian businesses at the same time. Komarov later stated that the cyberattack "ate up about 3% of annual growth."

The war has taken a significant toll on Ukraine's power grid, roads, telephone lines, and mobile towers. Kyivstar has pledged to invest $1 billion in restoring Ukraine's digital infrastructure over five years, by 2027.

“This is a significant investment in expanding the network, strengthening energy independence and resilience in the face of war,” Komarov said.

The mobile operator is also partnering with Elon Musk's Starlink to introduce satellite cellular communications in the country.

We previously wrote that Kyivstar showed strong financial growth in the first quarter of 2025. The company's revenue reached $255 million, which is 37.1% more than in the same period last year.
