Mobile operator Kyivstar has expanded the testing area of fifth-generation communication technology in Kharkiv three times. Now the coverage covers almost the entire central part of the city, where the highest concentration of users is recorded.
This was reported by the technical community of the Ukrainian telecommunications market MZU.
It is noted that to increase coverage, the company’s specialists have built additional base stations in key locations in the city. Since the launch of the pilot project in February 2026, more than 121,000 subscribers have already used the 5G test connection in Kharkiv. The operator will use the data and technical indicators accumulated during the tests for further planning and deployment of fifth-generation networks in other regions of Ukraine.
To test the technology, users do not need to pay extra — mobile Internet is charged according to the current tariff plan. The main requirements are to be within coverage, have a 5G-enabled smartphone (with the latest software update) and a regular USIM card used for 4G networks.
Recall that Ukraine is in the active phase of pilot implementation of 5G. At the end of April, it was reported that almost 500,000 Kyivstar subscribers had already used the fifth generation connection in test mode.
