Google has launched a new tool in the Google Wallet app that allows parents to create secure money balances for children and teens under 18.
This was announced on the official Google developer blog. The new feature is currently available for users in the US. Thanks to the update, children can pay with Google Pay in physical stores using Android smartphones or Wear OS smartwatches with NFC support. There is no need to open a separate bank account for the child.
Parents get full control over their child's balance through the Family Link service. The tool allows you to transfer funds directly from your account, set daily or monthly spending limits, and track transactions in real time. If necessary, parents can instantly block or unblock a child's account. In future updates, the developers also promise to add the function of setting up automatic regular transfers (for example, for weekly pocket money).
