Ukrainian studio RetroStyle Games will hold an open playtest of the cooperative pirate horror game Last Pirates: Die Together on Steam from April 17 to 19.
The developers also showed off a new gameplay trailer, in which a team of up to four players explores a dangerous island, collects loot, loses their asses, and tries to get back to their ship alive.
Players are hindered by monsters, traps, and their own clumsiness — due to the physics of elastic hands, any interaction between players quickly turns into chaos.
The April playtest will give you the first taste of Last Pirates: Die Together before release. Registration is now open on the game’s Steam page — players will be allowed in gradually closer to the start of the test.
RetroStyle Games' game can be attributed to the so-called friendslop genre, which is a term for fun, low-budget cooperative games. The gaming industry has a mixed perception of this term, which has negative connotations (the word slop means something of poor quality), but it has managed to become entrenched in the vocabulary of gamers. Popular projects such as Lethal Company, REPO, Peak, RV There Yet? and others are often attributed to friendslop.
It was previously reported that Ukrainian studio Frag Lab, which created the shooter with a difficult fate Shatterline, is developing a cooperative game for four players about escaping from prison by train.
