Director of AI at MacPaw Volodymyr Kubitsky said that his company is working on launching an artificial intelligence laboratory at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. What opportunities will it provide to students?
He announced this in an interview with DOU. According to Kubitsky, this will be a space for students where they will study, work, and attend AI events.
MacPaw AI Lab will open in November in the former Bilka Space coworking space. The space is currently being prepared for student work and events.
It is expected that the AI laboratory will discuss trends and technology news, hold practical workshops, hackathons, and AI events (including defense-related ones), create collaborations, and exchange experiences with representatives of the AI industry.
It was previously announced that MacPaw will collaborate with the Ukrainian Catholic University on educational projects, research, and student internships. The collaboration will see nine students from the UCU Faculty of Applied Sciences receive scholarships from the company for a year.
Scholarships are also provided for the best teachers at KPI starting next year.
«So that not only students are interested in creating such AI laboratories, we will also introduce scholarships for KPI teachers. For example, at Stanford or Berkeley it works like this: a company partners with a university — and a curator-teacher with several PhD students conducts the research she needs. We want to establish such a format of cooperation with KPI. In particular, we will define the criteria for a „top teacher“ (such as student feedback, competence in a specific topic, and motivation) and establish criteria for the success of the result,» said Volodymyr Kubitsky.
