This is stated in the material of "ArmyInform". It is noted that the Maritime Autonomous Guard Unmanned Robotic Apparatus (MAGURA) V5 has a low silhouette and low radar visibility, which makes it difficult to detect by enemy radars.
The drone can independently navigate its way to the target, avoiding obstacles and mining approaches. When approaching an enemy ship, the Magura V5 accelerates to maximum speed and literally “bites” into the target’s side.
Ukrainian engineers have also implemented a capability that allows them to confuse enemy electronic warfare systems. The Magura V5 can now operate alongside a “swarm” of decoy drones that overload Russian defense systems so that the main naval drones can strike.
The recent appearance of the Magura V5 modification, armed with R-73 aviation missiles, is also mentioned. “This is a historic breakthrough, because now the Ukrainian naval drone can not only destroy ships, but also attack enemy aircraft,” ArmyInform notes.
This modification allowed for an operation that resulted in the disabling of two Russian helicopters and the serious damage to another.
"In this operation, we did not hide from aviation, as usual, but, on the contrary, sought a meeting with the enemy. A helicopter is a fast target. As soon as it appears in the field of view, there are only a few minutes to take an advantageous position for launch. We calculated everything, and the missile hit the target from the first launch," said the commander of the Group 13 unit.
It is noted that Ukrainian engineers were able to modify the R-73 air-to-air missile, equipping it with a new guidance system capable of operating at a wider angle. The range of the modernized missile reaches up to 40 km, and the weight of the warhead is about 8 kg.
Last year, Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said that naval drones caused $500 million in losses to the Russian Black Sea Fleet . According to him, intelligence was able to effectively strike Russian ships in the Black Sea using the Magura V5 naval surface drone.
Earlier, Ukrainian Sea Baby drones also demonstrated that they can surprise the Russians. Last December, the Security Service of Ukraine showed footage of an operation it conducted on the night of December 5-6 in the Kerch Bay using Sea Baby drones.
