US President Donald Trump made the corresponding statement during a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit, which is currently taking place in Ankara, Turkey.
Commenting on his decision to transfer technology, the American president noted that this should remove the question of the volume of military support.
"We will give you a license to produce the Patriot. That way he (Zelensky) can't complain that we don't give him enough. Make them yourself," Trump said.
Trump also noted that not every country will be able to master the production of interceptor missiles, but he is confident that Ukrainians are smart enough for this.
Recall, Donald Trump previously reported that he was considering granting licenses to defense companies to produce American weapons directly in Europe and Ukraine. If such agreements are signed, Ukrainian and European companies will receive legal access to technologies and documentation from US developers. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also confirmed that negotiations are underway around the "granting of comprehensive licenses."
Earlier, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported that Ukraine is conducting active negotiations to obtain licenses for the production of long-range weapons on its territory, in particular French SCALP cruise missiles.
