The Finnish leader said this in an interview with Reuters during the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to Stubb, as another military winter approaches, Ukraine is facing an acute shortage of air defense equipment. Enabling Starlink over the Russian border areas will allow the Ukrainian Defense Forces to better target drones and high-precision systems to eliminate enemy mobile launchers within a radius of several hundred kilometers from the border.
“That is why I am begging Elon Musk to give Ukrainians the opportunity to use Starlink in areas where ballistic missile launchers are located — both in the occupied territory of Ukraine and in Russia — for strategic purposes, as this will save lives,” the Finnish leader emphasized.
The President of Finland emphasized that Ukraine critically needs three components to prepare for the winter period: means of protecting the sky, restoration and protection of energy facilities, and financial support.
