Musk commented on a post by Sean Maguire, a general partner at venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, on the X platform (Twitter).
«Ukraine has just carried out an attack that marks a turning point in the history of warfare. Hundreds of drones were pre-deployed, then struck 40+ aircraft 1000+ km deep into Russia. Over $1 billion in damage from drones costing less than $1 million. Critical infrared infrastructure is no longer secure,» Maguire wrote.
In response, Elon Musk stated that «drones are the future of warfare,» as opposed to manned aircraft.
The Ukrainian operation that Musk spoke about was called «Spiderweb», during which 41 Russian aircraft were hit, including strategic bombers Tu-95, Tu-22M3, as well as A-50, Il-76MD, Il-78 aircraft.
«In total, 117 drones were used in the operation. And the corresponding number of drone operators worked. 34 percent of strategic cruise missile carriers at the airfields were hit. Our people operated in the territory of different Russian regions — in three time zones,» President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on «Pavutina», thanking the SBU and its head, Lieutenant General Vasyl Malyuk.
It also emerged that the Ukrainian drones that attacked Russian military airfields on June 1 were equipped with artificial intelligence technologies. The AI was trained on exhibits displayed, in particular, at the Poltava Museum of Long-Range and Strategic Aviation.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s AI projects are facing problems. Human rights activists from the NAACP have called on authorities to shut down the Colossus «supercomputer» center run by Elon Musk’s company xAI in South Memphis.
The petition focuses on the gas turbines that xAI uses to power Colossus. The company has applied for a permit to continue operating 15 gas turbines at the facility, although the NAACP said authorities have «allowed xAI to operate at least 35 gas turbines without any permit» over the past year.
