Mastercard and PrivatBank made the first payment in Ukraine made by an AI agent

Mastercard and PrivatBank carried out the first agent transaction in Ukraine, using Mastercard Agent Pay.

As the Mastercard press service reports, their service for agent commerce integrates AI agents into the payment process as visible and controlled participants.

«Ukraine has long been one of the most dynamic digital payments markets in the world, where consumers and businesses are rapidly adopting new payment solutions. The first agent transaction in Ukraine is an important milestone that lays the foundation for a new era of digital commerce,» commented Inga Andreeva, CEO of Mastercard in Ukraine and Moldova.

It is reported that Mastercard and PrivatBank will continue to explore new use cases and possibilities for scaling AI commerce.

«We see the growing potential of AI-based assistants that will help people make everyday decisions, save time, and interact with digital services in a more natural and efficient way,» added Dmytro Musienko, member of the board for retail business at PrivatBank.

At the same time, Mastercard reminded that the Mastercard Agent Pay solution can only carry out transactions after identification, registration, confirmation of intent, and authentication.

«AI agents will provide payment protection using agent tokens that confirm that each transaction, including recurring payments, initiated by the AI agent is carried out with permission and within the limits set by the consumer,» Mastercard added.
