Elon Musk's ex and the mother of his child filed a lawsuit against xAI over porn deepfakes
She accuses the developers of the Grok chatbot of negligence and causing emotional distress because the tool was massively used to create her pornographic deepfakes.
She accuses the developers of the Grok chatbot of negligence and causing emotional distress because the tool was massively used to create her pornographic deepfakes.
According to the lawsuit, users used AI to “undress” Ashley St. Clair in photos. The generated content included images of her in sexual poses, as well as fakes of her “as a child in a bikini,” according to an NBC News report.
The plaintiff claims that she contacted xAI with a request to block the generation of her images. Despite the company's assurances that her photos would not be used or modified without her explicit consent, the flow of indecent images did not stop. Moreover, St. Clair claims retaliation from the platform because after her complaints, the social network X (Twitter) disabled the monetization of her account.
xAI has filed a countersuit against St. Clair in federal court in Texas. Musk's lawyers claim that the woman violated the Terms of Service and are seeking damages of more than $75,000. The company is also pushing for the case to be moved from New York to Texas.
Recently, X announced that Grok will no longer feature real people in bikinis and will be shutting down image generation for free accounts. The changes are intended to reduce abuse of the tool and take into account legal requirements in various countries, such as the United Kingdom, which has threatened to block X if the situation does not change.
American feminists are demanding that Google and Apple remove the X app from their stores, and in California, prosecutors have already taken up Grok. What's happening?
