CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new product called the Meta Ray-Ban Display on stage at the company's annual developer conference, Meta Connect 2025. Unlike the Orion, Zuckerberg says it's a product that people can buy in a couple of weeks, starting September 30, and it will cost $799, TechCrunch reports .
Meta says the display will greatly expand the capabilities of the smart glasses. Users will be able to display Meta apps such as Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook on it. In addition, the display can display navigation tips and see real-time translation.
The Neural Band controller that comes with the device is similar to a Fitbit fitness tracker but without a screen. It allows users to control apps with small hand movements. From the stage, Zuckerberg said that the Meta Neural Band has 18 hours of battery life and is water resistant.
The device uses electromyography (EMG) to read signals sent between your brain and your hand as you perform a gesture, and Meta is betting that this interface will become a new way for users to control their devices.
