Microsoft is rolling out a new feature within Copilot Cowork that lets you create internal apps using natural language, giving businesses a new tool for developing software without having to write traditional code.
The user simply needs to describe the task for the future application, after which Copilot Cowork generates its initial version. Interaction with the tool takes place in a dialogue format, reports Windows Central.
The application can be edited and improved by sending additional text prompts.
Users have the opportunity to test the created product before it is launched.
Applications can connect to corporate data through approved connectors while adhering to existing security and administration policies.
IT administrators will be able to deploy ready-made applications for the entire organization through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
To maintain security, development takes place in a personal, isolated sandbox. This allows you to experiment with creating applications without risking your company's core infrastructure.
Over the next few weeks, similar capabilities will be available in Copilot Studio. This will allow you to take applications created in Copilot Cowork and further refine or flexibly customize them to meet more complex business needs.
The new functionality is currently in preview and will be available first to organizations enrolled in the Microsoft Frontier program with an eligible Microsoft 365 Copilot license and access to Copilot Cowork.
The feature rollout began on September 8 and will continue until September 14, 2026. Integration of the corresponding capabilities into Copilot Studio is expected in a few weeks.
