In February 2024, OpenAI introduced Sora, an AI model that converts text into video. It was initially available to teams evaluating the model for potential harm and risk. The video generator was launched for other users in December. The integration with Microsoft Bing is the first time the model will be available for free, writes TechCrunch.
At launch, Bing Video Creator is not yet available on your computer, and creating a video can take hours, even in the "quick" mode, which should only take a few minutes.
To use Bing Video Creator, users need to sign in to a Microsoft account. You can create 10 videos for free. Then, users must pay 100 Microsoft Rewards points for each video. These points are earned for Bing searches or Microsoft Store purchases—for example, 5 points are earned for every Bing search on your computer, with a limit of 150 points per day.
Users can create up to three 5-second videos at a time — there is currently no option to change the length of the video.
Additionally, videos can only be created in a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio for now, meaning they're suitable for TikTok or Instagram. But horizontal 9:16 aspect ratio uploads will also be available soon.
