A number of deep learning agents have recently been launched in chatbots, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT , Google’s Gemini , and xAI’s Grok. They are based on so-called thinking AI models that have the ability to independently reason about problems and check facts.
Researcher helps you perform complex, multi-step research on the fly. It combines OpenAI’s deep research model with the advanced orchestration and deep search capabilities of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft said .
Researcher can be used for:
Additionally, Researcher can leverage third-party data through connectors to extend capabilities and provide broader insights, allowing you to integrate data from external sources like Salesforce, ServiceNow, Confluence, and more directly into Microsoft 365 Copilot. It can even pull data through other agents like Sales Chat.
“Analyst thinks like a skilled data scientist, so you can go from raw data to insights in minutes,” Microsoft explains.
The tool is built on OpenAI's o3-mini reasoning model and optimized for performing advanced data analysis in the workplace.
The Analyst progresses through problems iteratively, taking steps to refine their "thinking" and provide detailed answers to queries.
It can also run Python to solve the most complex data queries—you can watch the code it executes in real time and verify its performance.
