The company says it is working on a fix for this issue, and that affected users can simply reinstall the Copilot app from the Microsoft Store and manually pin it to the taskbar.
While this is clearly a bug in the latest Windows update, some Windows 11 users who aren’t interested in Copilot will no doubt see it as a new feature. Nearly a year after converting Copilot to a web app, Microsoft is rolling out a native version of Copilot for Windows. The new Copilot app features an improved interface, as well as a hotkey for talking, so that the user can talk to Microsoft’s AI, just like they did with Cortana in Windows 10.
Microsoft is also working on additional updates to Copilot, which it plans to unveil at a special event to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary on April 4. The company is likely to unveil its own AI reasoning models to compete with OpenAI.
